Google accuses Rockstar “did not produce any product, nor practice any patent”, dedicating only analyze successful products of other companies, looking for something that will require licensing of its patents, under threat of litigation .

A consortium led by Apple, which are also part of Microsoft, BlackBerry, Ericsson and Sony, was known to buy the last batch of patents from Nortel, a Canadian telecommunications company that filed for bankruptcy in 2009.

The portfolio comprised six thousand “records” that in total cost 5.4 billion dollars, and ranged from the wireless communication systems, the semiconductor. The most valuable patents were related to the 4G mobile communication technologies and the standard LTE.

It was based on these same patents that Rockstar sued Google, Asus, Samsung and LG last October . And is this kind of actions that Google wants to avoid from now.
