The Federal Trade Commission (FTC, its acronym in English) made a complaint against the Brightest Flashlight Free (free flashlight) app for Android. According to the FTC, the app
“stole” and shared personal information such as user location.
According to the website The Daily Dot, the data were shared with advertisers, and served to define which advertisements appear on the application screen.
Developers Program undertook to amend the terms of use of the flashlight. The idea is to make the intentions clearer collecting data, showing that they will be sent to third parties. The Brightest Lantern Free has been downloaded between 50 and 100 million times .
