North Korea introduced its own Android smartphone - iOnline

A television channel reported North Korean visit to Kim Jong-un to a mobile factory, and displayed pictures allegedly manufactured an Android smartphone that territory

North Korea introduced its own Android smartphone by KCNA TV, a news channel controlled by the North Korean government in Pyongyang. The device in question is called AS1201 Arirang, was produced using the “indigenous technology” and have been inspired by a folk song that country.

In the pictures released by KCNA TV can see Kim Jong-un, the current leader, to visit a North Korean factory dedicated to the production of smartphones, although several international media outlets questioning whether production will be made entirely in that territory. China, neighboring country of North Korea, is identified as a likely source of production.

The question is whether this bet by North Korea will be minimally successful, especially if we take into account the high poverty rate of the population and the numerous restrictions that the North Korean state imposes on access to internet and multimedia consumption.
