Android market share grows, while the iPhone ... - State of Minas

smartphones equipped with the Android operating system from Google increased its share in the global market, while the iPhone lost ground by the absence of new models of Apple devices, said this week the company specialized International Data Corporation (IDC).

The share of Android in the smartphone market grew 79.3% in the second quarter, while the iPhone has dropped to 13.2% from 16.6% in the same period last year, according to IDC.

“The Fall of the iOS in the second quarter is in line with the cyclical nature of the iPhone,” said the team in charge of research on cellular IDC’s Ramon Llamas.

“No launch a new product since the debut of the iPhone 5 for about a year, Apple’s market share remained vulnerable to product launches by competitors, “he explained.

The company said 187 million phones with the Android system were shipped in the second quarter compared to 31.2 million iPhones.

Devices with the Microsoft operating system – Windows Phone – which were recorded the biggest jump, reaching 3.7 % of the market and thus strengthening his third place, according to IDC.
