Considered the Android operating system more insecure by the FBI - TeK.sapo

Android was considered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of National Security Americans (DHS) as the mobile operating system most insecure of all. The reference to the Google software is made in a document where it draws the attention of public workers to security risks on mobile devices.

The note is addressed to security forces, firefighters and professionals from health, whether local or national delegations, also states that 79% of malware that exist for mobile devices is designed around Android.

Insecurity of Google’s operating system is related to the fact that many phones – 44% in the accounts of the FBI and DHS – are still with old versions like Gingerbread. The high market share and architecture open source are other reasons cited for the high levels of insecurity.

The solution is to keep mobile phones with the latest version of the software, in the case of Android can be a problem. The difference in upgrade policies between manufacturers and operators leaves many outdated equipment, a reality that also happens in Portugal as detailed TeK.

The second most dangerous mobile operating system, according to the document “for official use” achieved published by Public Intelligence, is Nokia’s Symbian to register 19% of the malware created.

Far from the first two positions appear with iOS 0.7% of threats designed specifically for the operating system, and software BlackBerry and Windows Mobile with 0.3% each of the threats.

The document is dated July 2013 makes no direct reference to Windows Phone, so the latest mobile operating system from Microsoft can be included in the “Other” category that only 0.7% of the aggregate threats mobile .
