Researchers find new way to hack the Android system – Tudocelular.com

New vulnerabilities are found in Android every day. Google always has been releasing updates to fix many of them, that can only be resolved with a simple upgrade of Play Services . However, it is very difficult to maintain the system always safe.

A study by Riverside University of California , discovered a flaw in Android that allows most applications to hack the system with chance of success between 82 and 92% of the time .

This is possible when the user installs an application infected by malware, then taking advantage of shared memory for applications, it is possible steal information from other apps , completely ignoring the security system and access permissions of Android.

The survey was conducted with the Galaxy S3 running at version 4.2 Android . The researchers believe that the same flaw can be exploited in other Android devices. And according to them, such failure may also be exploited in the Windows and iOS , although they have not yet tested.

The application Gmail was the easiest to be hacked, with 92% chance of success . Already the application of Amazon was the hardest, with only 48% success .

“I never imagined it was possible to interfere as easily in the memory space of other applications,” said Zhiyun Qian, assistant professor at the University of California and one of the researchers involved in the study.

The shared memory is fundamental to the functioning of various applications . With it, developers can not do anything about it. We’ll have to wait for Google take action and find a solution to resolve this security flaw Android.
