Microsoft bought accompli, the company responsible for the email application with the same name, which was praised by the press specialized features that gives iOS users, Apple, and Android.
The application allows you to aggregate multiple email services – including Outlook, the Microosft, and Gmail, Google – has a variety of gestures based interface and includes an agenda. It connects to storage services (like Dropbox and Google Drive) to allow file sharing. It also has a feature that puts the top messages deemed most important.
The application is free and is available for Microsoft rival platforms, but not for Windows Phone, a system that has a marginal market share.
The companies did not disclose the value of the transaction, but several US media outlets say the business is around $ 200 million (EUR 160 million).
“Our team and products will be part of Microsoft’s ambitious efforts to reimagine productivity in the mobile era,” wrote the chief executive of accompli, Javier Soltero. Not the first time a major company intends to change the way you interact with the email. Recently, Google launched a new email application, designed especially for mobile phones.
The accompli received generally positive reviews. For example, the site The Verge classified it as “the e-mail application for iPhone that Outlook users have been waiting for,” a reference to the popular application of Microsoft email. The site ZDNet said it was “perfect for dealing with both work email, as people.” The application has a 4.5 star rating in the Apple store (maximum of five) and a score of 3.6 (also five) in the Google store for Android applications.
