Despite being part there is only one year of Instagram, Android owners are about half of its total users, according to Mike Krieger, who founded the social network photo along with American Kevin Systrom in 2010.
In an interview, the entrepreneur spoke about support for Instagram for videos (whose incorporation happened last Thursday) and says he sought inspiration in the ‘Harry Potter’.
INTERVIEW
Now we have video, Instagram may have a more important role in demonstrations?
One of the things we want with the video on Instagram’s spend a moment with greater fidelity. In the event of an outbreak, for example, is much more potent pass people talking and shouting than just a photo.
Android has become as important as the iPhone?
Today we are a product of two platforms. Almost half of users use Android devices, a lot of it because of the use in countries such as Brazil and Russia.
think the Brazilians will use the video?
The highlight is the musical aspect. There is a lot of music in day-to-day Brazil. I have watched videos of people playing in the street concert. But there is also an important conversational side: Brazilians are very fond of making videos talking to the camera.
Think Instagram may suffer rejection by those who want to see only photos on the net?
All kind of change causes a kind of shock, especially if it is a product that people spend several hours a day. In these three years with Instagram, I learned that the criticism we received in the early days [post new] should be, in part, discarded.
is possible to treat the video as a photo, as you choose what picture represents the film. We are inspired in part in lively paintings that exist in the series ‘Harry Potter’.
The video has always been a feature we wanted to incorporate the service.
Why only now, and with 15 seconds maximum duration?
In recent years, mobile networks, LTE [4G], and the chambers of the apparatus improved enough to allow the video on Instagram – the ‘timing’ has to do with it.
Already on the duration films [videos can be between three and 15 seconds], slow to decide, because we did not want something too short, not much more than just a moment.
