At the end of last quarter, Android marked presence in 68.6% of mobile devices in the main European markets – UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain – and iOS at 18.5 %, according to Kantar Worldpanel data.
The representativeness of Windows Phone continues to grow, but the market share of Microsoft’s operating system in Europe remained almost unchanged in the last three months, standing at 10 3%.
The advancement of Android not only felt in Europe, extending to other continents and, specifically, the 12 largest markets in the world. Despite losing to the operating system from Google, iOS continues to show a strong presence in key markets such as the United States (43.9%), UK (29.9%) and China (19%).
Windows Phone has grown to two digits in Europe, but unfortunately for Nokia to increase the European market for smartphones in the last quarter of 2013 was only 3%.
Despite the leadership of Android, also not all good news for Samsung increasingly pressured by competition. The report also indicates that the representativeness of the South Korean manufacturer fell 2.2 percentage points in Europe to 40.3%, while China’s share has remained unchanged in 23.7%.
