Google releases details of developing for Android Auto – Tudocelular.com

In June, Google has officially presented to the public Android Auto, a new way for users to interact with the Android platform in a car. The system is basically a extension of your Android device to the car .

So far, we did not have much information about the Auto Android despite Google has made available a special page on it explaining its features. However, information on developing themselves were rather scarce.

Today, Google released on its website for developers many details about the system. In it, subjects such as design, architecture, user interface and development process are discussed.

We can see that Google wants keep everything pretty simple , like what we’ve done in Android Wear. Notifications are displayed without drawing too much attention, for example, and virtually everything comes through own Android smartphone user.

In general, developers suffer several limitations , as the customization of visual, for example. Ie any music app will be very similar to the Google Play Music. Is it not possible to change the position or size of buttons, creating new windows, etc. Below you can see some of the standard Android Auto interfaces.

These restrictions make sense, since the goal is to minimize any kind of distraction that can take the driver’s attention. Furthermore, Google ensures that the limitations rather than hinder, rather facilitate the development process.

Several companies have entered into a partnership with Google to use the system in their vehicles, such as: Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Jaguar / Land Rover, BMW, and General Motors . Others are also studying the possibility, like Volvo and Audi. The release date of the Android Auto is for end of 2014 .
