Mozilla believes that Android is not for cheap smartphones - TeK.sapo

This is the moment of Mozilla. On the day that was the first commercially available smartphone with Firefox OS for end users, the ZTE Open, the director of technology attacked the Mozilla Corporation and rotolou Android operating system from Google as inefficient mobile low cost.

Brendan Eich revealed to the press that the purpose of technology is only and only the market of smartphones and low-cost competition, especially from Google, does not seem to intimidate the CTO. The U.S. considered that Android is too “loaded” to run on inexpensive hardware.

Reduce the consumption of RAM and CPU are two determining factors for a company that tries to dominate the next million users especially in emerging markets. This allows for creating cheaper smartphones with only one core processor and 256MB of RAM.

The Google’s mobile operating system is composed of three components that require consumption of processing: the kernel, the virtual machine known as Dalvik and WebKit rendering engine. In Firefox OS all processing is directed to the Gecko rendering engine, since the software works based Web applications in HTML 5.

“Android 4.0 does not work on devices with 256MB of RAM” asserted Brendan Eich, quoted by The Ver ge. It is for this reason that the version 2.3 continues to be one of the most used and sought after by developers, because it is at the same time offering more possibilities to consumers and developers .

Regardless statements of Brendan Eich superioriza where “their” mobile operating system by Google, first impressions and analysis of specialized press speak in slow and significant latency in devices equipped with Firefox OS.
