Comparison: Android iOS 4.2 x 7 x 8 Windows Phone [Video] - Tecmundo

Day after day you came in Tecmundo all news related to the main smartphones in the market. However, even though the characteristics of each are known, not all consumers who have had contact with the three major mobile OS market: Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

Our proposal

this comparison is not to show which one is best for a particular function, but with the features of each OS in simple functions such as access to notifications, purchase an application in-store or uninstalling apps.

For this article, we use the handsets with the latest versions of the OS: the iPhone 5 running iOS 7, Nokia Lumia 920, running Windows Phone 8, and S4 models Samsung Galaxy, HTC One and Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.2. In the case of Android devices, we chose to use more than one model precisely because of system modifications made by the manufacturers who make some different details between them.

lock screen

iOS 7

the Lock screen is displayed information such as time, date, battery status and signal strength of WiFi or 3G. Touching on the camera icon and sliding the screen upwards you can access the camera. You must slide your finger from left to right to enable the use of the device. The unlock is done by a numeric password or no password type.


Windows Phone 8

already on Windows Phone 8 are displayed information such as time, date, battery status, call vibrates (if active) and signal strength of WiFi or 3G. To unlock the Windows Phone 8, you must slide your finger from the bottom up. The unlock is done by a numeric password or no password type.


Android

In

locked screen information is displayed as time, date, battery status, call vibrates, signal strength, WiFi and 3G and small application icons with notifications or updates. Unlocking can be done in various ways, and you can choose which one you want: slide left to right, face unlock, turn points, numeric or alphanumeric password.

Home Screen

iOS 7

7 iOS home screen displays icons for 20 apps, divided into five lines. There is still a sixth landline, with four icons. The order of them can be customized.


Windows Phone 8

Android

As each manufacturer can customize the OS, there is much variation between the same versions of Android from one device to another. However, on the home screen you have access basically a list of icons and apps can also add widgets. In addition to the customization of each manufacturer, there are a number of launchers on Google Play that can completely change the home screen.

Notifications

iOS 7

With iMessage, the talks are free from Apple devices, either via WiFi or 3G. The background color indicates the mode of sending the message: blue to green for free and paid.


Windows Phone 8

Touching the icon you have access to the Phone app to make and receive calls. By default, the list is displayed with the conversation history. Shortcuts to the mailbox, keyboard, contacts book and a search field.

iOS 7

The keyboard is available in Portuguese and has resources autocomplete, autocorrect and highlight misspelled words.

Windows Phone 8

Likewise, the keyboard is available in Portuguese and has resources autocomplete, autocorrect and highlight misspelled words.

Android

Like the other two OSs the Android keyboard is available in Portuguese and has resources autocomplete, autocorrect and highlight misspelled words. Furthermore, the models with the Google OS have the Swype feature that allows sliding your finger over the virtual keys to form a word. There are other options for customization of keyboard that can be downloaded from Google Play.

Store

iOS

To access the store you need to create an Apple ID. After you create your user account, you are directed to the store of your country smoothly and can download free apps. To buy an app, you must have a credit card. Some apps may not be available at the Brazilian store. To buy apps at international stores, like the U.S., you must have a credit card American or purchase a gift card, which is not officially sold in Brazil, but can be purchased via imports.


Windows Phone 8

To access the store you need to create a Microsoft. You are directed to the store of your country, but you can change the region to buy apps from other places. To buy apps you must have a credit card national or international.


Android

To access the store you need to have a Google account. Google Play is unified, but by default you will be directed to the Brazilian store. You can download free applications without major restrictions. To buy apps you must have a credit card. In some countries, you can buy gift cards, but this option is not yet available in Brazil.

Audio Player

iOS 7

iOS music player lets you sort your music by artists, song or from custom groups. Albums, genres and composers are also among the options. IOS 7 now has the iTunes Radio feature, but it is not available in Brazil.


Windows Phone 8

music player Windows Phone 8 is integrated with the video player and enables the organization of songs, videos, podcasts and access to the store. Within the list of songs, you can sort tracks by artist, albums, songs, and create specific lists or select what you will hear by gender.


Android

Music feature of Android allows the organization of content by albums, songs, genres, artists or playlists. Many manufacturers include the OS their own players with variable functions. During the execution of a range, is displayed the album cover.

Control Center

iOS 7

Windows Phone 8

There is no central control with quick access. However it is possible to enable or disable almost all the functions from the Settings item.


Android

access to central control is done when you slide your fingers up and down the screen. Here you can enable items such as WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and rotation lock, and control volume levels. The more powerful the machine or more features it has, the greater the number of options displayed. You can also customize which items will appear in this menu.

Uninstalling applications

iOS

Simply press the application icon for a few seconds until an X appears in the corner of it. Then tap “Delete” to confirm the deletion.


Windows Phone 8

Simply press the application icon a few seconds until a menu opens. In it, locate the “Uninstall” option and tap on it to confirm the deletion.


Android

“Settings” go to resource “Application Manager”. In the application list, select the one you want to delete and click on it. On the next screen, select the “Uninstall”. Some applications available on Google Play are also able to perform similar functions.

Customization

iOS 7

You can basically modify the wallpaper of the lock screen and the background. The apps on the dock can also be altered, and the touch of the phone.


Windows Phone 8

You can change the size of the live tiles and also choose what are the items that will be present in this home page. The image on the lock screen and the colors of the tiles can also be changed.


Android

You can modify the lock type, add or delete widgets on the home screen or download custom launchers. There are even applications to uninstall apps and manage content. You can also modify the wallpapers and backgrounds, including animated options. The modifications in the interface varies according to each manufacturer.
