BitTorrent Sync comes with the Beta app for Android - Softonic BR

BitTorrent Sync, the app that lets you synchronize files safely using the distributed technology company, came to the Beta. Sync was built for practical reasons in the first place, according to Brett Nishi, senior director of BitTorrent. “An engineer wanted a simple way to share photos with your mother and built the application in one of the ‘hackatons’ of our company,” said Nishi. And so was born the BitTorrent Sync .

The first appearance of the program took place earlier this year as an Alpha version closed and only in April, became public. Now, less than three months later, the company launched Sync in Beta. “Since we provide the Alpha version, users have downloaded more than 8 petabytes of data,” said Nishi.

“Since we provide the Alpha version, users have downloaded more than 8 petabytes of data.”

Along with today’s update for BitTorrent PC, comes a completely new application for Android, with the goal of helping users synchronize files with mobile devices . An app for Android was a constant request from those that tested the BitTorrent Sync Alpha, according Christian Averill, Director of Communications for BitTorrent. “The community really got involved with the testing and we had a lot of positive feedback,” says Averill. “We have 25 million installations of our products on devices with Android, then we recognize that it is a great platform to develop.”

BitTorrent Sync for Android runs on devices with Android 2.2 or higher, which means it works on almost all phones and tablets today. Users can backup photos , videos and many other files directly from your Android. For now, there exists a version of BitTorrent Sync for iOS, but the developer says it is on the way.

Since the discovery of the NSA spying program (National Security Agency), known as PRISM, concern about privacy and security in information technology industry has grown considerably. BitTorrent Sync provides a secure method of transferring files with encryption AES 256-bit between devices. Also, Sync does not store files in the cloud of a company, which could be subject to monitoring U.S. government. Alternatively, the application allows you to create your own personal cloud.

“We have great respect for user privacy. Indeed, users store basic information about the amount of data transferred and to which client is used, but we do not have any information about what they are downloading,” says Nishi.

“We will move as quickly as possible. A full version will be available when all is stable.”

About the schedule for release of the final version of BitTorrent Sync, nothing is planned. “We will move as quickly as possible. A full version will be available when it is steady,” says Averill.
