Nokia launches mobile phone with its own version of Android - The Associated Press

Nokia unveiled on Monday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona three phone models that are the first brand equipped with Android. The Finnish manufacturer, however, has created his own version of the system with an inspirational Windows Phone and Microsoft services pre-installed interface.

The new Nokia X, X + and XL do not use Google’s services, which typically come pre-installed on phones with Android, like Gmail or Google Maps. Instead, have Here, Nokia maps, email and online accommodation Outlook.com One Drive, both the Microsoft service. In some markets, buyers will receive a year of free calls via Skype, a service that is also the Microosft. Users, however, can install many applications for Android, including Google.

All three models come just before completing the purchase of the mobile phone business of Nokia by Microsoft, a deal that concludes three years of close partnership, which has made Nokia abandon its own platforms and passed to use the Windows Phone system, which equips the line of smartphones Lumia. Despite efforts from Nokia, Windows Phone is hardly used by other manufacturers and are in a remote Third, in a market that is led by many Android and iPhone which arise in the second.

Nokia introduced mobile phones as a gateway for consumers to Lumia models. The prices are on the lower level of the smartphones market and the targets are mainly emerging economies, although Europe is among the regions covered to market devices. The Nokia X will be immediately put on sale for 89 euros, before taxes. The X + will cost 99 euros and the XL, 109 euros. Will hit the market early next quarter.
