Application for Outlook.com lets Android users’ data … – TeK.sapo

All documents attached to email messages in Outlook.com Android application are stored in a folder on the storage card that can be accessed by other applications. It is enough that the other applications can be allowed Read_External_Storage .

Just so that the user has installed a malicious application on your smartphone or tablet to be able to have attachments downloaded from email to be stolen simply. Also a person who has physical access to your phone can download these files.

To resolve this issue the security company advises that the USB Debugging mode is off and the phone has an installed application that encrypts all data.

As ZDNet explains, in version 4.4 of the Google Android allows applications to have a private folder on the external storage card, but all previous versions of the operating system are subject to vulnerability.

In early May a similar flaw was discovered in the iOS mail application that 7 does not encriptava the email attachments, leaving them exposed to theft easier.

The second feature that determines the levels of security Outlook.com application is in terms of defining a pin protection. At first the user chooses to protect the application via an access code – what happens – but a second time Microsoft says that the pin serves to protect the mail when it does not.

The code explains the Include Security, serves only to control access to the application and does not imply, for example, any type of encryption for e-mail users, as it seems to imply. For technical details about the flaws readers can consult the full report of the company.
