After Apple has informed in September 2013 that iPhone 5S would be the first smartphone to bring a 64-bit CPU, the “fashion” of architecture to 64 bits seems to be the trend in the segment of mobile devices (identical to the way that happened with PCs).
This was followed by Samsung and are now the manufacturers themselves CPUs, such as Intel, which announced a new optimized version of Android 4.4 for Kitkat CPU’s 64-bit.
Intel recently announced a new build of Android 4.4.2 Kitkat that has been optimized to run on Intel 64-bit processors. The company aims to attract new manufacturers of smartphones, so you can form new partnerships
At this early stage, you can download this optimized version and run on only two devices:. NUC Mini PC Intel Ultrabook or Dell XPS 12 which bring a Celeron and Intel N2820 Core “Haswell”, respectively.
However, in a nutshell, Intel quietly said that this version of Android will run on any recent CPU company .
To better realize that this issue of the 64-bit architecture, consider the following example:
Consider going to a library and asks all the books on bikes. responsible for library has 32 assistants available , who are responsible to pick one of these books … in total charge of the library will receive a maximum of 32 books.
Now imagine that there are a new request for books about Pplware and responsible for the library has in the same 32 workers available. In total the library has 65 books which implies 3 “travel” (consider the term “cycles” of assistants.
Now imagine that the person responsible for library has assistants available 64 . In this case, being made a request for books about Pplware, only 2 cycles will be necessary to bring 65 books. Summary: This means that with more assistants, speed of delivery of books who asks is slightly faster. Doing some quick bills, if we had 256 books and 32 assistants, then 8 cycles would be needed. terms 64 In the case of workers, only 4 cycles would be needed.
In the case of computer systems, the operation is identical. an iPhone can only obtain 32-bit 32-bit data each cycle since … 64-bit system manages a maximum of 64 bits of data which prevents transfer operations least of data between disk / RAM. should be noted that if a 64-bit system you need to go get smaller or equal to 32 bits information … then there will be significant differences in using a system to 32 or 64 bits.
In addition to the address space, there are other important issues such as precision inherent to the size of the registers (integer and floating point), and address / data paths (not necessarily in RAM, but the ALU).
also said that Intel is developing additional work, as the aim of optimizing the code for the HTML 5, JavaScript, WebKit, V8, and Dalvik support platform. This version is now available “64-bit ready.” How do we know Google has not released any official version to support 64-bit and in that sense we can always test this optimized version for this architecture.
Intel took the initiative to accelerate the transition from Android to 64bits, however, Google has been working on this transition for several months and has also appeared a few commits to confirm.Google is making the change gradually partly because leading manufacturer of SoCs have not yet released to market a 64bit CPU, but since Intel took the initiative to do a build on 64bit, it is possible that Google will present us the next version of Android . the 64bit
Alongside this news, Intel also did know, at an event held in Shenzhen – China, which will launch new SoC Braswell (which will be the successors of the Bay Trail …. so pass of 22nm for 14nm and reportedly, this family of SoC emit less heat).
These new SoC have as target the segment of mobile devices but Intel also said it can be used on PC’s with Windows, Linux and Chrome OS. The first Braswell should arrive early as 2015.
