Whenever a new version comes out of a mobile operating system, studies indicate that as users of technology, always trying the latest news .. something that is not always possible in the Android world we like.
Today Android is an operating system that needs no introduction. Leading position in the segment of mobile devices, only in 2013, were sold about 800 million devices with this platform. However, Android remains the serious problem of updates … to get an idea, only 5% of devices Android have installed the latest version of the system, Android Kitkat 4.4 which was released 6 months ago.
here recently published a study that realized that Android 4.4 KitKat was present in 10% of equipment . The data belong to Mixpanel, a company dedicated to the collection and processing of statistical and analytical data of mobile platforms, but Google now confirms that in fact the Android 4.4 KitKat is only half of the equipment installed in indicated.
As we can see in the graph below (information disclosed by Google itself here), Android Jelly Bean remains the most widely used version of Android, while the HoneyComb (3.2) which is still under percentage of adoption. Another highlight (by nagativa) the poor adoption of Android 4.4 KitKat , with only 5.3% after 6 months of having been made available by Google.
Fragmentation continues to be one of the greatest torments of Android. The update of the Google platform always involves Google itself, manufacturers, operators … which makes the whole process very complex. Have the other hand, Apple competitor has simplified the entire process and easily a user with iPhone 4, or 5 5C/5C can upgrade to the latest version of iOS.
Will Google ever be able to mix the whole process?
