These are the applications that consume more resources and battery in a … – the Observer

The Facebook already is not a surprise appears at the top of these studies about the applications that most affect the performance and the battery of smartphones. However, there are apps of entertainment and communication which, though not having an impact outside of normal when they are to be performed, can harm the performance of the device by being in the background.

The report, Avast Android App Performance & Trend has gathered information from more than three thousands of millions of Android users around the world, through the data collected anonymously between July and September 2016. And released what are the applications that can have a greater impact (at the expense of battery life and memory footprint) for the smartphones of this system.

… that start with the device

No big surprises, Facebook leads the list, causing the greatest impact on the performance of the smartphone. The application is heavy and consumes a lot of resources to work in full conditions, however, it is a surprise to find the music application.ly in second place.

For those not familiar, the musical.ly is a platform that allows you to create small videos of people doing playback of songs or funny phrases. During testing, the application depleted the battery of a Galaxy S6 in just two hours. To see 25 clips in the application, which takes a few minutes, the battery went down 11% and were used more than 100MB of mobile data.

simple Applications, such as the Daily Mail or ynet (both media), enter this list due to the resources spent with the notifications that require a constant exchange of information. Although the company does not already produce smartphones, there is still a large number of users of BBM, the messaging service of the BlackBerry.

… to be used

The values change in comparison with the first table when it comes to the resources required for the user to run the applications. The Snapchat is the table leader in this sector with a great wear and tear associated with the fact that it is an application that uses constantly the camera and still uses a great processing power to run the famous masks of facial recognition.

the service of streaming music Spotify appears at the top of the list due to the large amount of data that needs to change constantly with the server.

The third place is occupied by Wattpad, an application that seems basic but it consumes a lot of resources to be constantly looking for new stories of the users and receive notifications.

The fact that Google Sheets appear in this list is surprising, in the negative, because a simple table can pull by the CPU of a Galaxy S6 to the point of the instrument having difficulty opening the document. The application even cause some heating on the device to scroll through a grid or to edit something.

The tests were based on the consumption of battery, storage and data costs for each application.
