One in every 400 Android smartphones is a victim of malware - TeK.sapo

When researchers want to know to what extent that is a mobile operating system may be infected, often use a random sample to achieve these results. But a new technique, based on the consumption habits of users, seems to have shown different results.

Academics of the University of Helsinki, Finland, in partnership with Intel, estimated that 0.25% of Android devices are infected with malware. The value turned out to be higher than expected, because this sample was used for different analysis.

Researchers found that users who had the same malicious apps, also had the same benign apps – likely the same store unloaded. Thus, through a set of applications that were installed on every smartphone, it is noted that devices were infected with malware even unknown.

The full results of the study “Malware Insights” will be presented at the conference this year World Wide Web

The research group analyzed for seven months 50,000 devices, and is now convinced that the future will be able to detect which devices will be infected, even before it happens. All through the consumption patterns of the users.
